Chatting with Jesus

Lord, according to Psalm 107:2,3, You send Your Spirit over the world, calling all people to You. You can save anyone. You redeem those looking for meaning in life. You give new life to those poor souls train-wrecked by addictions. The psalmist identifies yet another group that need Your intervention. These people have defied You since the beginning.
“Some were fools; they rebelled and suffered for their sins” — Psalm 107:17–22
Their outlook on life? Party hardy! Anything goes! They ignore Your precepts as not applicable today. Living dangerously on the edge, they disregard the wisdom from the mistakes of those who preceded them. Instead, they dive deeper into immorality and depravity. Some people learn the hard way.
But the piper must be paid. Licentiousness led to sickness and disease. Scripture describes the severity of their illness that even the thought of food brought on more nausea. At death’s door, they realized the foolishness of their life choices. Reviewing their wasted life, they can only turn to You for mercy.
“‘Help, Lord!’ they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent His Word and healed them . . .”—Psalm 107:19,20.
Lord, You hear their humble, yet sincere, plea. And true to Your faithfulness, You speak healing to their body, soul, and spirit as they begin their new life with You. Some may succumb to their illness, but they now rejoice in Your presence, since their soul and spirit belong to You.
If this is your story, by all means, speak out. Tell those in Your world how God rescued you from deep distress to you a new life with Him. You have no better story.
Amen, Jesus.
