Chatting with Jesus

Lord, as Christ followers, how often we are misjudged, labeled as bigoted, hateful, intolerant, and at times, downright looney? No wonder in times of weakness, we have even questioned our worth.
We live in a hostile environment that rejects the truths of Your sovereignty. This leaves our fallen world with no shortage of wounded souls. The world chews people up, then spits them out once their usefulness has depleted. Why the broken continually reject Your invitation to a new life of grace and forgiveness through Jesus is bewildering to me. Lord, the world today needs a relationship with You.
As Christ followers, we see how the enemy of our soul dresses up the glitz of this world to offer one surefire thing yet delivers the opposite. Fallen man is the only creature who would rather die than be considered worthless. Who doesn’t want to feel valuable? How many dear souls have been left crushed in spirit after chasing the false promises of “worth and purpose can be attained by your own merits without Christ” only to discover it turned out to be just that—false promises. Seeking man’s approval for our worth always leaves us vulnerable.
Christ followers have great worth. How much? Jesus said our worth is to die for. And He did. He took all our sin and transgression upon Himself when He willingly went to the cross on our behalf.
Lord Jesus, once we understand how the impact of Your Cross gives us worth, no one can ever make us feel worthless again. Amen.
