Lord, what’s next? The headlines foretell of coming woes. For many, Christ-followers included, live in fear, worrying about happenings and events they cannot control. We’re stuck in this fallen world where uncertainties are a way of life for most. Inflation eats away at our budgets. Shortages of cause many to scramble from store to store, searching for needed items. It’s easy to see how the ups and downs of life leave people fearful.
This is nothing new. When You walked among us, Jesus, You addressed the worried state of people, fearful of the unknown. From Your perspective, Lord, worry is a faith-crippling problem. Worry causes us to doubt Your power or call into question Your love and concern for Your people. Speaking to the multitudes You assured them of Your concern. “God will certainly take care of you. So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need,” (Matthew 6:30–33).
Lord, help us keep our focus of trusting You our main priority. Oh, that I might faithfully follow this truth. Everything else then will fall into place as You divinely meet our needs. Amen.
