Lord, I encounter people everywhere stressed, concerned about events at home and throughout the world. For over two years, the pandemic consumed our every moment, leaving people on edge, and sadly, covid-19 claimed many loved ones. With the coronavirus waning, world war now threatens to annihilate us. In our humanity, is it any wonder why anxiety has gripped so many as uncertainty looms around every corner? For believers, events out of our control stretches our faith to near the breaking point. Today, I echo the cry of one of Your early believers, “Lord, I believe but help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24). Unfortunately, many of Your followers, for various reasons, are ready to throw up their hands and walk away from You. Am I alone or have all who follow You at some point felt the same?
Lord, equip me today to encourage someone who is despondent and on the verge of walking away from faith. Give me words directly from You, with the right tone mixed with Your compassion and love. Let me be open to Your love flowing through me to those whose faith needs strengthening. And thank You if I’m on the receiving end of this blessing. Your faithfulness is like none other, Lord Jesus. Amen
