Lord, as a ‘Super Christian,’ I’m quick to quote Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Yes, nothing is beyond me now! Jesus and I are unstoppable. Yes, You equip me with grace to do all things You called me to do, but in my zeal to serve You, sometimes I’m driven by the spirit of “It’s up to me! I’ve got to do everything or else the world will end!” That’s a problem. Sadly, when I try to do what You didn’t call me to do, where You are not already working on my behalf, I fall on my face. Frustration sets in when You don’t seem to bless what I wanted to do. You hear me grumble—“I quoted Philippians 4:13 and it didn’t work. Where were You?” I’m glad You never scold. “Hey, ‘Super,’” You say. “Stay in your lane. That wasn’t your assignment.”
Lord, keep me from stupid sins, from thinking I can take over Your work (Psalm 19:13 Message Translation).
