Lord, maybe if I will just be quiet, I can hear what You are trying to say to me in these difficult circumstances. You know I want to do the right things. You know I try to treat others the way I want to be treated. You know I love You. So, if I’m doing these good things, what explains these difficulties? Could it be that despite being Your follower I remain too headstrong, and this is the only way You get my attention and my obedience back in order? Perhaps I should grumble less about my situation and start listening for Your voice amid the chaos. Maybe if I cease striving for what I want and instead ask what You want, then all this will begin to make sense. I surrender. Direct my life how You want, Lord, by these difficult circumstances to make me more like You.
