Good morning, Jesus.
Lord, You get all the credit. Only You could do what I could not do. There was no way in heaven or earth that I could save myself from myself. Most of the time I acted as a decent, caring person, and my intentions to bless others were sincere. Other times, I’m ashamed of what festered within my heart, since lurking within me was that sin nature all humanity is born with. I thought my efforts to change were impressive. “Just you wait,” I said. “I’m turning over a new leaf.” New Year’s Eve brought on more unrealistic resolutions. How can God reject me after “I’ve quit bad X, Y, or Z and started to do good A, B, or C? Look how much better I am than others, God.” Since the beginning of time, man’s attempt to achieve piety by his own efforts have failed every time. Mine were no different. Your Holy Spirit and only Your Spirit conquered my sin nature and gave me new life. Only by Your grace, Lord, do I have forgiveness of sins and peace within. Thank You Jesus.
Living by Your Spirit, Lord. Amen.
