Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020
Good morning, Jesus
Lord, how relevant for 2020 the words that Henry Wadsworth Longfellow penned during the turbulent Civil War times regarding the Advent of the Christ-child who came to save us from our sins and bring peace on earth, goodwill toward men.
“And in despair I bowed my head;
‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said;
For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
“Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
‘God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men.’”
On this Christmas Eve, may You be our peace, Lord Jesus. Amen.
