Good morning, Jesus.
Lord Jesus, how frustrated I was trying to win Your favor and acceptance by my many “good” works, all in the attempt to earn enough brownie points to earn salvation. I couldn’t keep up with the balance sheet of “good works” versus “bad things I do.” Was it enough? What if I missed something? You saw how the emotional distress kept me in doubt. You knew from the beginning no human could hold up under the pressure of earning salvation by our own efforts. Your plan all along had You destroying everything that could cause my eternal ruin by Your sinless sacrifice on the cross. Only Your innocent shed blood could cover and forgive my sins (Hebrews 9:22). When I ceased my endeavors to save myself and humbly placed my trust in Your redeeming work on the cross, You accepted me with open arms into Your Kingdom. Talk about relief! I finally understood the extent of Your grace and peace beyond human understanding.
Bless and protect our friends affected by the wildfires in the west, and Hurricane Sally raging the Gulf coast. Be the Great I AM for them as they have never known before. Use these catastrophes to draw people to You.
Living free from pressure in You, Lord Jesus, Amen.
