Good morning, Jesus.
Lord, I exhausted myself trying to please You with my “noble deeds.” Haven’t you noticed what a good boy I am? How could You refuse to save me? After all, unlike most Christ-followers, I was the poster boy who avoided all the taboos that religion condemns. Then I dusted off the Bible on the coffee table and started to read. When I read Romans 5:6–8, You revealed how prideful I’d been. You sacrificed Your own Son Jesus to take away my sins even though You saw how my religious pride made me obnoxious and my spiritual judgmentalism brought out the worst version of me. For too long I worked to earn grace, but that’s not Your plan, Lord God. Now I better understand the depths of Your amazing grace. Remind me daily, Lord, of Your amazing grace.
Our hearts are broken over the tragic loss of George Floyd’s life. Let true justice be served and may people remain calm and refuse to fall into rioting and looting. Let Your Church arise to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the people
Forgive our sins, heal our nation. Impress into our spirits that “at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly . . . But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:6–8).
Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
