Good morning, Jesus.
Lord, this is one of the Scriptures I don’t like. When James wrote “Considerate it pure joy when you face trials of various kinds . . .” Your Word sometimes baffles me why it goes so against our human nature to live a problem-free life. In your wisdom, and since your ways are not my ways, you use these difficulties to strengthen my faith and develop more of your character in me. It’s these life challenges you often use to change your followers. Teach me not to plead for you to take away my problems. Instead, may I seek to know what you want to do in me. How much spiritual growth have I missed when I cried and begged for you to remove the things that would draw me closer to you?
We pray for our friends in Tennessee, reeling from the fatal tornadoes last night. Our hearts are broken for them, their lives shattered by this act of nature. May this catastrophe cause people to seek you. Provide their physical, financial, emotional and spiritual needs. Help the people put aside all social and political differences, and in our humanity, reach out to help one another. Comfort them and be the God they need you to be and may your church love and serve the communities affected. Give them new meanings as to what is important in life.
Trusting you in all life’s challenges, Jesus. Amen.
