Good morning, Jesus.
Lord, we’re amazed why you use flawed, weak humans, tending to wander off and do our own thing. Yet when we came to you in repentance, your Holy Spirit came and took up residence inside our spirit. He didn’t temporarily rent a room in our heart, no, he bought our whole house, sealing us forever with you. Why you trusted us with your Holy Spirit, since in our humanity we’re just “clay jars,’ leaves us humble. But you placed your Spirit within us so that people will not mistake your power working in and through us as being from our puny human efforts. No, they will see plainly it is you, Lord God, working through us to do your work here on earth (2 Corinthians 4:7). When it comes to spiritual matters, those who know us best see the many cracks in our clay jars. We regularly make bone-headed choices and act like a real ding-a-ling from time to time. How can we take credit for what you do through us? Your half-brother James witnessed those who would “steal your glory” and issued a stern warning: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). Lord, without your Holy Spirit, we struggle with obedience, since the enemy of our soul works overtime against us. You said, “If anyone loves me, he will carefully keep my word and my Father will love him—we’ll move right into the neighborhood!” (John 14:23 MSG). By your grace, we pray your power works in and through us to those in our world.
Demonstrate your power in our friends and loved ones who face medical and physical issues. Pour out your grace in abundant measures as they stare these challenges in the eye. By faith, they declare, “By God’s power, together we will move these mountains. Disease and afflictions may attack my body, but they will never conquer my spirit, which is one with Christ Jesus!”
Bless and provide for our friends enduring Dorian. Show your favor to them, protect their lives and property. Be the great I AM those dear souls need you to be. May people see your mercy, goodness and provision despite the devastation done by this storm. And may this storm lead people to you, Lord Jesus.
Wanna stay humble, Jesus. Amen.
