Good morning, Jesus.
Lord, You are patient. Oh, my, how You are patient! Where would I be today if Patience wasn’t’ one of Your holy attributes.
You describe Yourself in 1 John 4:16 as how You don’t just show love, but You are love. You are the very essence of love. In Your expressions of Love detailed in 1 Corinthians 13:4 You clearly state that love is patient. Some call patience longsuffering or slow to anger. Whatever we may call it, You could have easily written us off in our rebellion and offered the grace we rejected to others. But You were patient with us, not wanting us to be loss and eternally separated from You. Patiently, You waited for us to come to You in repentance (2 Peter 3:9). The great apostle Paul, who described himself as the worst of sinners, humbly and gratefully told all who would listen to his personal story of salvation that Christ Jesus displayed His immense patience as an example for those who would believe in Him and receive eternal life (1 Timothy 1:16).
Help my patience, Lord Jesus. May I be kind to those in my world and realize there’s no escaping it–people and events in this fallen world will try my patience. May Your love work through me to reach others who I deal with daily. Remind me how Your patience is working in them as Your patience desires to work in me to make me more like You. And Lord Jesus, thank You for Your patience in waiting for me to come to You and accept Your offer of grace and forgiveness.
Thankful You were patient with me in coming to You, Jesus. Amen.
