Chatting with Jesus

Lord, you always lead me into new life experiences. Writing this devotional is one such event. Temporarily, I’m using only my right hand to type. Today is a practice run. Let me explain to my dear readers.
I will have surgery on my left hand to repair Dupuytren’s Contracture, a disease that causes my fingers to be drawn inward toward the palm. Recovery time is predicted to be three to four weeks. Once my left hand has healed, doctors will do the right hand. That should make writing interesting.
I’m right-handed, so whatever is produced by my left hand might need a Lindquist to decipher. Forgive me for taking my one-handedness in a light-hearted manner. For me, this in no life-altering setback. Several dear friends have use of only one arm or leg due to strokes, but, Lord, you lift them up on eagle’s wings. Their soaring faith inspires people. Content with their lot, nothing slows them down. I love to worship with them.
Lord God, do you have a higher purpose in all this? Your voice spoke to my inner being.
Remember when my stubborn people Israel faced an uncertain future, I sent my prophet Isaiah to encourage them.
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness” (Isaiah 43:19 NLT).
Lord, you led my friends through their wilderness, so I give you full charge to do something new in me. I know before, during, and after these hand operations, I can say with a grateful heart, “Lord, you are good.”
Amen, Jesus.
