Chatting with Jesus

Lord, as we reflect on the events in our lives in 2023, Holy Spirit open our spiritual eyes to see that the ups and downs, the good and the bad, the successes and disappointments, our wholeness and brokenness—all these played a role in developing your character in us to make us more like you, Jesus.

Forgive me when I grumbled over inconveniences. I’ve forgotten about those nuisances, but at the time, it appeared to be the end of the world. Holy Spirit, help me focus on the eternal and dismiss the temporary. Help me live and dwell on Philippians 4:8 in the coming year.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Practicing Philippians 4:8 will make the confusing and chaotic 2024 election year much more bearable.

And Jesus, may we always give thanks how in 2023, you brought us through, and you will do the same in 2024. Amen.
